Hi, everyone. Here's a short (>1 min) video clip of swaddling the baby. I'm a dorky dad with a camcorder, I know...

Hello from Momville
I'm finally coming up for air and am glad to be able to post something. Things are going very well. We have Mike's Mom and Dad here from Baton Rouge, and they are incredibly helpful. They both have insomnia which works out great because Margaux does, too. Well, she doesn't have insomnia during the day, but boy does she like the nightlife. She definitely has her days and nights completely reversed, but other than that she is a laid back baby who is, so far, easy to soothe (just don't put her down and she's happy as a clam- no chance of flat head baby syndrome here).
We went to the pediatrician yesterday and got a great report. Margaux is gaining weight and doing all the things she should be doing. We don't go back for a month, which makes me realize we're expected to know what to do with her for the next four weeks. One thing you don't really realize until you have one is that babies don't come with instructions. Of course, there are tons of books out there that tell you what to do, but another realization is that you don't actually have time to read them.
Here are a few pics of Margaux from today. Enjoy!

new pic and slideshow available
Hey, all. We're about to run up to the hospital for a quick follow-up. But I wanted to post a photo I liked, as well as a link to a slideshow I set up. After we get back, Cindy will post and update everyone about what's been happening. In the meantime, here's the URL for the slides:

Them there eyes
Last night we had 8 visitors crammed into the hospital room passing Margaux back and forth. The whole time the visitors were there, she slept. She wouldn't open her eyes for anything, and even with 8 people excitedly talking she never woke up. So of course, last night when it was just Cindy and I, she was wide awake until 1:30am. So for those of you who stopped by yesterday, here's proof she has eyeballs:

Fresh baby! Get yer fresh baby!
Hello, everyone. We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter, Margaux Marie Melancon. She was delivered via c-section at 1:46pm today, weighs 8 lbs, 9oz, and is 20 inches long. She’s been checked over by the pediatrician and is in good health. Cindy is feeling some after-effects of surgery, but is recovering nicely. She and Margaux will be in Stillwater Medical Center until probably Saturday. Both sets of grandparents are in town to see the new granddaughter.
I'll come back and update with more details, but I need to get back to the hospital. In the meantime, here are some pictures.

Oh happy day!
The big news today is that we finally know when Miss Margaux will be making her debut. We have a c-section scheduled for noon tomorrow (3/12/08). We are incredibly excited to meet our daughter. In fact, today sort of feels like Christmas Eve did when we were kids. When I was five I got a Baby Alive for Christmas. Now, 33 years later, I'm getting the real deal. Hopefully, I'll be better about taking care of this baby since the fate of that one was not pretty. Having not read any Baby Alive parenting books, I started solids too early leading to a fatal intestinal blockage. This time I've read my books and have Mike to help, so while things won't always go perfectly, I believe the outcome will be much more favorable. Stay tuned...

Another ultrasound
We dropped by Perinatal Center of Oklahoma today (it's in Edmond) for another ultrasound. Margaux is 3 lbs, 2 oz, which Dr. Mirabile says is right on track. All of the things they check were a-ok, as well (all limbs accounted for, heart looks great, no tail, etc.) If the estimate of 1/2 pound a week weight gain is true, we're looking at an 8-pounder by delivery time. We'll post some of the ultrasound pictures as soon as I get them scanned in -- it may take a couple of days, we're down in Fort Worth until Saturday. She was a cute little thing, though she seemed a little camera shy. She kept putting her hands (and feet!) in front of her face, which challenged the doc's ability to get a good ultrasound pic of the face.
Here are a couple of pics. What you're seeing is a profile shot from the right of her face. The thing in front of her face is a hand.
